no os and cant install one

i have an older compaq that was giving me some problems so i reinstalled windows it a while ago. it was working good but my copy of windows wasnt genuine (it was downloaded and craked i need it just to hold me over till a got a new one). i got another copy from a friend. he burned me a copy of his. when i tried to reinstall windows i kept getting messeges that it could find certain files. i went ahead with the installation but it didnt complete. when i try to boot up my computeri get an error ntldr missing. i tried a different windows install disk but it wont boot from the disk and i keep getting the same message. i have no operating system and because of thiss error i keep getting i cant install one. if anyone could help that would be amazing
