I'm having to look at replacing my ~2yr old XFX 8800GT 1024MB PCI-E as it has stopped working, it is scalding hot to touch which is worrying as it normally runs stone cold.

It stopped working last night when my girlfriend tried playing L4D2, i was asleep at the time, before the system went dead there was a 7D stop code moaning about the hard-drive, which i whipped out and ran a DFT + Windows Repair on to eliminate that.

Now i don't even seem to get POST or any BIOS beeps strangely, I've been short-listing cards for a possibly replacement and would like opinion :)

My current card: http://xfxforce.com/.....lpha Dog.aspx

ASUS GT220 1024MB GDDR2 - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/181954
PALIT 9800GT 1024MB GDDR3 - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/171941
PNY GTS250 512MB GDDR3 - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/164355
OcUK Value GT240 1024MB GDDR3 - http://www.overclock...rodid=GX-138-OK

Obviously i already know GDDR3 is the better, we're upto GDDR5 now i believe? I've always prefered nVidia GPUs to ATI from past experience however if someone can convert me to ATI you're welcome to try. I've also always preferred the nVidia 8800 series as opposed to the 9*** series, again if you can sell the 9*** series or newer (GT2**+) to me you're more than welcome!

I play the following games on my rig so compatibly with these are a must:

Call of Duty MW2
Call of Duty 4
Call of Duty WaW
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2
Quake 4
Doom 3
Tom Clancy Endwar
Tom Clancy HAWX
Team Fortress 2

If i could find/remember where my reciept is (brought the card 2 years ago and moved so propbably lost it) I'd try sending it back to XFX under the lifetime warrenty.

Thoughts?
