We just moved into a shared office space. I would like to set up a secure network. Can I plug a router into the provided ethernet port and secure it that way? I have always had a modem to connect it to. Not possible here.

it would probably be best to talk to the owners of the office space and see how everything is configured in the office before purchasing any equipment.

in theory you should be able to plug in a router or a firewall and then share your connection in your office through that. but the people who set the place up may have some custom setup that might cause issues.

He just has cable service. We are going to try and reset his modem and then plug my router in. Thanks for the reply.
