Searches on the internet seem to point to a driver problem. However I cannot determine what driver is causing the problem. When I check Who Crashed, I get the following information:
product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: NT Kernel & System
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect, possibly the culprit is in another driver on your system which cannot be identified at this time
Again from the internet, I get the idea that a driver is “hiding” somewhere.
Separately, I have checked my Vista Event Viewer and before every crash was this error message
The description for Event ID 117 from source O2SDRDR cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
