Hello,

What is your choice for FREE Antivirus and Antispyware software for VISTA?

I am looking or something that does work properly, is easy/light on the system, and does not come with tons of ads to buy the purchase product.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions. :)

For a simple "install & forget" one, I recommend "Avast 5 Free Edition"
http://www.avast.com...ivirus-download

You have to register it after installation but that's cost-free.
Just a way for them to get your email address, but I've been using it for 6-months and never yet had a single email from them, so don't worry about them spamming you.

It updates every day without any fuss or interruption.

Thank you phillipcorcoran.

I do have another question.... about uninstalling my current antivirus software.

According to my current virus software there are two Trojans on my PC that have been quarantined.

My question is….What happens to those "quarantined Trojans" when I uninstall what is quarantining them? What happens to the PC then?

Thanks

There is nothing wrong with Avast Free Home Version
Please download Avast from my signature below. Please make sure you do the registration as it is good for a year or more. When it is due simply just reregister it.
Avast in my opinion is better because:
It's FREE to the Home User
It Updates it's Definitions daily
You can scan Individual Files, Folders and Drives
No buying new versions every year

I've had really good luck with the AVG Free Addition. It offers free virus updates and is user friendly, too!

Thank you everyone for your help. :)

Very special "Thank you" to rshaffer61 :)

AVAST installation & Reg. went very, very smoothly (LOL even for non-geek like me).

I have run the first complete scan & all is well.

Thanks again all! :)
