My windows will not boot. All I get is "Missing or corrupted files <windows root>\system32\hal.dll
So I booted with Slax Linux OS and I can see my hard drive data is still there

If I reinstall Windows will it keep all my data (files, folders, application etc.)? And if so, how can I find a XP OS download? I don't have the CD anymore

Thanks

XP OS download is not available legally
If you can borrow one from someone but it must be the same as what you installed... Home, Media or Pro
You can then do a Repair Installation which will keep your data intact and only repair the corrupted files.
