I currently have a desktop running XP and using the windows live mail client. I have a laptop running Windows 7, and Windows live. Can I copy the folder setup from my desktop (folds, subfolders, etc) to my laptop. Also, can I copy the message rules?

Thanks!

Copying them to the laptop is certainly possible, but Live Mail wouldn't work on the laptop like that. You have install it from the downloaded setup file just like you did for your desktop. That's because the setup creates registry entries and probably puts some files in the Windows/system folder also.

The message rules copying might work though. But first check on the desktop to see if Live Mail has an "export" feature for doing this instead.
