My PC was flashing off and on (very annoying!), so I changed out the graphics card for a cheap one. The problem went away but the card wasn't man enough to play videos and so on, so I have bought an Nvidia geforce 9500GT brand new from ebay. I downloaded the drivers from the Nvidia website and the result was not good - screen hanging, graphics all over the place, scrolling not happening. I have now installed the drivers from the installation CD even though they are not the latest ones. Things are a bit better, but nowhere as good as they should be, or like they were with the original graphics card!
I don't know what else to do. What do you suggest? Is there a diagnostic tool I can use?
Cheers,
AD

Have you tried the actual card manufacturers website to check if they have their own up to date drivers?
Did you un-install all the previous drivers before installing the latest ones?
This will provide you with a report on your card http://download.cnet...4-10788513.html
Download & install Sandra Lite - Click on Tools - Click on Analysis and Advice - This will allow you to
generate a report on your whole computer - Either send the report to the desktop or print it off for any
future use; http://download.cnet...4-10556571.html it will also tell you of any problems & it will also make
recommendations for resolving them.

What is the brand of the card, is it ASUS, Palit, Gainward etc.

Tip 319: Video Adapter : NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT (32 SP
1.35GHz, 1GB DDR2 2x400MHz, PCIe 1.00 x16) :
A refresh rate of at least 75Hz is

What have you got the refresh rate set at?

Warning 3107: WDC WD1600JS-75NCB2 (160GB, SATA300, 3.5",
7200rpm, NCQ, 8MB Cache) (C:) : Drive
temperature is too high! Check fans!
The temperatures inside the case could be getting too high &
this just may be the start of more severe problems, when was the last
time you cleaned out the inside of the case, how many internal fans do
you have & have you checked that they are all working?
Download & run speedfan from here http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php
You may want to uninstall these programmes when you have finished with
them
