Hello,

I have a HP Pavillion 9500 laptop. Its about 18 months old and running on Vista. About 2 months ago i noticed that the DVD bit wasn't working.

I've googled the problem and it seems that it is a know problem with HP laptop running Vista, something to do with installing updates.

I've tried to follow some instructions about device manager and uninstalling and re-installing but have got nowhere.

The DVD drive is not showing in the device manager.

I've read some other posts that seem to be simular but didn't want to mess up my laptop by following someone elses solution to thier problem.

Can anyone help?
