HELP! networking

Im about to blow up with frustration!! When I go to use adobe PDF or java6_21update it keeps telling me its on a unavailable network. How can that be. I have not or has anyone else that I'm aware of added another network. How can I check this out and fix it? Im not real computer smart so make it simple as possible. Thanks in advance and I hope someone can HELP ME!
