Hi, just for looking for some help if possible.

For the past few months my laptop has been producing yellow dotted patterns in various parts of the screen when its in certain positions. This was at the start, only happening when laptop screen was close to closing. Now it is happening at every angle, the only way my laptop has a normal screen now is if its open full at 180 degrees.

Please see pics below, can anyone advise on the problem? Thanks...

First suggestions is to try a external monitor. If the problem happens with it then its your system.
If not then it's your laptop screen.
Then we can continue from there.

Thanks for your reply.

Does my tv count as an external monitor?

I regularly connect my laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable and dont have any problems...

That works for me. Looks like the problem may be your laptop monitor then.
How old is the laptop?
Any warranty on it?
What brand, make and model is it?

It will be 3 years old in December.

Think the warranty only covered me for 2 years:

Its an HP Compaq Presario CQ70 Notebook PC

Thanks

OK looks like you will need to replace the screen.
I'm not sure how confident you are about doing this by yourself but if you go HERE this page has a pretty good tutorial on how to replace the screen. It's going to be intense so if you don't geel good about doing it yourself it may be something you want to have a repair shop do for you.
