HP photosmart C1380 problem printing

I just plugged in my mac os x 10.4.11 into an HP photosmart C1380. I have never used these two components together before. On the print menu, I select HP photosmart C1380 and I choose print. What comes out is this:

%!PS-Adobe-3.0 % RBINCopies: 1 %%Pages: (atend) %APL_DSC_Encoding: UTF8....etc.

This is a work computer. Is it possible that I don't have authority to add this printer, or install a printer other than the one at my workdesk?
