I just went on Internet Explorer and my connection went to 0

So the ping starts failing when you bring up IE?

Does it come back when you close IE?

If you open up a second cmd window does ipconfig fail as before? I found this article from MS:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918557 You might try it.

I followed the article and the computer name was already listed in all the right spots. Sometimes when I start internet explorer I lose connection, sometimes I don't. My computer also won't let me perform a windows update.

Also, I tried to create a system restore point and it wouldn't let me.
