Not sure if this should be in virus or vista OS section. Brother in-law asked me to clean a virus off of his laptop. Gateway M-series with vista OS. Started laptop and popups started like crazy. Shut laptop down
and started in safe mode, copied Malwarebyte anti-malware to it and ran 2 full scans. Booted laptop back
into normal mode and ran another full scan clean, everything seemed good. Noticed windows update was trying
to run, so I connected laptop to my wireless connection. Windows vista SP1 update started to run so I let
it go overnite. I awoke to find laptop will not start in normal or safe mode.
Corrupt or missing file c:\windows\system32\drivers\ndis.sys
status: 0xc0000221
Not sure what to do now.
