My Epson 92 printer has suddenly stopped working. Indicator lights show green and red steady "on"

I have
removed printer cover and checked for any foreign material paper jam etc.
change usb lead for known working lead
deleted Epson printer program and reinstalled from original disc
updated the driver using the device manager option for update
used microsoft.com "fix it centre" for checking usb and printer. some errors found and fixed reported now as ok

The printer is 2/3 years old and has consumed 3/4 sets of inks

all help appreciated

Hi Tekan :D sorry to hear you are having problems with your printer.
In what way do you mean not working, not printing or not attempting to print?
I can only relate to printer issues I have had in the past but have you checked
the printer is set as the default printer?
If not to do this go to Start>Control Panel>Printers>Right Click>Make sure the
Epson D92 is set as the default printer>If it is not right click on it and set
it as the default, if there are any old unused printer icons delete, when the
same thing happened to me Send to one note had been set to default printer and
to this day I dont know how, also check on the task bar bottom right corner to
see if there is a printer icon there.
Hope this gets things sorted for you

the steady red on would indicate an error of some kind. Usually the first thing to do is with the printer powered on, unplug it. Wait 10 seconds. Plug it back in. This will clear any memory the printer has. Turn it back on.

Thanks Oberon75 and Phillpower2

I have turn the printer of for several minutes and then back on - no joy
When printer is turned on the catridges move across the printer, there are other mechanical sounds and then the lights come on steady. The paper feed does not attempt to pickup a sheet

I have deleted unwanted printer and selected epson D92 as default - no change

Ihave deleted documents from the print queue - no change

There is no icon for printer in the task bar

After doing some research I have found that the symptoms you are describing (red light on and failing to print) can be caused by the ink cartridges not being recognised by the printer, even genuine Epson cartridges so unless you happen to have spare cartridges it would be a costly exercise to purchase new ones only to find out this was not the issue, so that it is a hard one to recommend you try.
The second one I came across recommended downloading and saving the drivers from here http://esupport.epso...6F5MAU003D&tc=6 and then uninstall the existing drivers and then install the new drivers you have saved.
I hope you have better luck with this.
