what is reputation and how do i get it. I have one for some reason.

the reputation function on the forums is a way to "rate" users based on the advice they give. a more positive rep on a user should mean that they have been known to give better answers to forum topics.

of course, this only works if people use the function. if you notice there is a small green + at the bottom right hand of every post on the forum. when you see a good response to an issue press that button and it will up the person's rep points.

SpywareDr, I believe he was asking about reputation in regards to this site. Programmer101, you get a reputation point when someone rates one of your posts positively. If you look at the lower right hand corner of your post you'll see a green plus sign - that's how reputation is given. This is a quote from Admin:

The way we currently have it configured, you can only give positive reputation. You can not see who gave you reputation points. You can not give yourself reputation. There are 5 reputation points available per day. Guests can't award reputation, only members.

When a topic reaches 20 positive reputation points it gets a special icon. Members can also receive Good reputation at 10 points, Excellent at 20 points (visible when viewing profile). All numbers subject to change.
