I have been using my laptop for a while now sudden one day it would not start. Every time I try to start it up, the Vaio logo pops up and then I get a black screen that says "Operating System Not Found". If I click a button, it just repeats the same thing over. I'm in need of desperate help! What do I do??!?!?

Unfortunately it sounds like a classic case of a dead hard drive.

(ALL mechanical hard drives WILL fail. Their internal moving parts rub each other which causes wear, and once the wear is great enough, the unit simply fails to function).

Solution: Replace the hard drive.

Note: If the laptop is still under warranty, call Sony and have them send you a replacement.

My Dell Studio 1535 is doing the same thing. However, on my machine all hard drive tests, diagnostics etc. check out. The OS seems to have been wiped from the hard drive. I have all of the Dell factory disks and a 64-bit and 32-bit disc for reinstalling vista ultimate, For some reason whenever I go to disc boot from the vista disc it gives me an error saying a cd/dvd driver cannot be found and gives me an option to browse for it or insert a usb flash drive. Could someone please help me out? Thanks, Brandon.

When you start that new thread, also add in what model the DVD drive is
