Ac97 driver crashes during installation

I was given a broken computer with the Blue Screen of Death,so I put in a hard drive from a different broken computer with XP that had a memory problem or something but the hard drive from it was ok.I put it in this computer so now when i try to download the ac97 sound driver my pc crashes,and when my computer gets a error message my computer makes a loud beep sound not the normal XP error sound. P.S my computer meets the XP requirements.

Hi RAWR :D
Can you provide some more information about the installation you have attempted.
You cannot put a HDD from one computer into another and expect it work correctly
simply because it has an OS on it (in this case XP) as there will be no drivers
for the MB on the newly fitted HDD for it to run.
Are you aware that there is a sequence for installing drivers, chipset first etc.
Below is an example from Dell to explain what I mean;

This is an example only ! as your system may not have the same components as listed.
I hope this info helps you resolve the issue but if not let us know and we can look at
other possibilities such as not removing any previous drivers.

Yes I ve downloaded all the driver and they're all accounted for execpt the multimedia audio controller which needs the ac97 driver.Also my computers a Toshiba Qosmio PQF20U-AAAAF and the computer i took the hard drive from was a Toshiba Satelite of some kind.Also how do I delete old from the other computer???

Go to Control Panel>Device Manager>Sound, video and game controllers>Click on the + sign>Right click on the audio device>Click on properties>Driver>You could try updating the driver first if that doesn't work follow the same procedure but uninstall any other audio drivers, you can then install your drivers from the link below;

I uninstalled Multimedia Audio Controller,and toshiba doesnt have support for my computer so what now?

EDIT:How old is the computer, is it discontinued and that is why we cannot find the drivers?

im not sure how old it is.The site has support but no download for multimedia audio controller.I know it needs the ac97 driver but when i try to install it my pc crashes
