Hi,

I have turned my laptop on this morning and it has told me that it cannot read-in or write-out (? I think?) and that it can't find my profile and so it is kindly setting me up with a temporary profile. I do not know why! I have no stuff that I usually have on my desktop, my photos have disappeared, I can get online, but everything has gone...

I am not computer friendly and don't understand what has happened, but is it fixable? And if so.... how?

Please help
Thanks
Erin

It hasn't gone.
Firstly, go to Control Panel, User Accounts and make yourself a new account.

Restart the machine and log in with this new account.
You'll then find your old stuff in the C:\Documents and Settings\<whatever your old account name was>\ and the Desktop and Documents will have all your stuff.
