Go to

Start and then to Run
Type in Chkdsk /r Note the space between k and /
Click Enter ...It will probably ask if you want to do this on the next reboot...click Y
If the window doesn't shutdown on its own then reboot the system manually. On reboot the system will start the chkdsk operation
This one will take longer then chkdsk /f

Note... there are 5 stages...
It may appear to hang at a certain percent for a hour or more or even back up and go over the same area...this is normal...
DO NOT SHUT YOUR COMPUTER DOWN WHILE CHKDSK IS RUNNING OR YOU CAN HAVE SEVERE PROBLEMS
This can take several hours to complete.
When completed it will boot the system back into windows.

Let me know if this fixes the problem

I apologize, i should have stated all this in the first post, ive run CHKDSK, sfc /scannow, came back with no errors of any kind.

Ive also ran Windows Memory Diagnostics at 6 passes, No errors found
Also ran MEMTEST86 - for 8 hours, no errors found

everything inside the case is new:

Motherboard/processor/memory/CD-DVD burner/power-supply/1TB western digital HDD

with the exception of my graphics card, which is a few years old

Run hard drive diagnostics: http://www.tacktech....ay.cfm?ttid=287
Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD (select "Write image file to disc" option), and make the CD bootable.

NOTE. If your hard drive is made by Toshiba, unfortunately, you're out of luck, because Toshiba doesn't provide any diagnostic tool.

Thanks to Broni for the instructions

Go to Start and then to Run and Type in dxdiag and then click Enter
At the bottom of the System page click on Save All Information
Save As a Text file and save to Desktop.Include this file with your next reply.
On the DirectX Files tab, check at the bottom of the window for any problem notes.
On the Display Tab click the
Test DirectDraw button and wait for the results.
Then click the Test Direct3D button and wait for the results.

In your next reply include results of each of the above steps.

I've already run diagnostics with DataLife for my Western Digital HDD, the hard drive is only a month old, so it is in good health and performance.

Ive attatched the DxDiag.txt

Have you done a repair installation or startup repair?

yes i was thinking the same thing, lol i am truly sorry about this, and yes, i have run a repair install, even used system restore, which didnt seem to help, so i completely reformatted my Hard drive, and re-installed windows, so im running a fresh/clean install as of right now, i have run Windows update, and installed every update possible.

Ive also scoured the net and updated drivers for my keyboard and mouse, and graphics card, as well as sound drivers. the only drivers i could not find to be support by windows 7 64bit, is my monitor, which only has Windows XP Drivers.

Ive also gone into my BIOS to make sure it is up to date, which it is, as well as checked settings for on-board graphics to disable them. clock-speed and memory settings all seem to be set correctly.

The onslaught of BSOD errors are random, sometimes itll happen when im browsing the web, listening to music, copying files/folders, or playing a PC game. it has even crashed when the computer is doing nothing at all, as i have my power options set, so that it does NOT enter sleep mode/hibernation mode.

OK lets take a look at voltages and temps then
Download Speedfan (The download link is to the right), and install it. Once it's installed, run the program and post here the information it shows.
The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.
To make sure we are getting all the correct information it would help us if you were to attach a screenshot like the one below of your Speedfan results.

To do a screenshot please have click on your Print Screen on your keyboard.
  • It is normally the key above your number pad between the F12 key and the Scroll Lock key
  • Now go to Start and then to All Programs
  • Scroll to Accessories and then click on Paint
  • In the Empty White Area click and hold the CTRL key and then click the V
  • Go to the File option at the top and click on Save as
  • Save as file type JPEG and save it to your Desktop
  • Attach it to your next reply

OK strange that all looks good.
How old is your system and how long have these BSOD's been happening?
Considering you stated you formatted and reloaded fresh did you use a retail cd, oem cd or a downloaded iso file?

the system is about a month old, the BSOD's started roughly around 2 weeks ago, but in those two weeks, ive re-installed Windows 7 several times to try and circumvent the crashes, to no avail. and I installed from a Retail.

The only thing i've suspected so far causing these error's was my exernal Hard drive, which is about 4 years old, and was designed for Windows XP, But i cant understand why that would cause the windows kernal to give a stop error, i have since unplugged the external from its USB port, but i recieved a IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL BSOD even with it unplugged

That is correct, that is why i decided to come here and post my situation, a last resort if you will, my very, very last resort will be to take it to a repair shop, if i cannot get it fixed myself, or from someone such as yourself to point me in the right direction, but it seems as though your just as stumped as i am, no offense intended
