Why do some letters and numbers not appear when typed? My wife typed in her email address when prompted to do so on a web site she's been to many times and never had any problems. Now when she types in her email address the letter "j" and the numbers in her email address don't appear when typed. I had her type her email in the google search bar which she's able to do and then try and paste it and that doesn't work either. The "j" and the numbers don't appear but the rest of her email does. I went to the same web site and had no problems typing in her address.....any ideas??? I did shut it down and restart and also checked for updates. Adobe was updated but that didn't work. She's got a relatively new Dell Inspiron 1420 with vista. Thanks in advance.

I would guess between two things...

1. There is something trapped under your keyboard, blocking your keystrokes... You can get this checked out at best buy...

2. You are infected and your cpu is high which causes your keystrokes to have to catch up-they are quite slow... perhaps run some antivirus...

My first guess was dirt trapped under your keyboard keys , but what you said about being able to type on the google search bar without any problems doesn't make sense , so it is either problems with the email site you are using or malware issues which i think is rather unlikely.

I suggest you try using an external keyboard to see if you can type first , just to be sure
