Good morning my well clued up friends. Hope you can put my mind at rest. :D
A few weeks ago I updated my Comodo firewall to the latest version (4 i think?) after getting pop ups from my Comodo firewall icon. I had a bit of a job installing it, had to try a few different times.
Since then I've been unable to turn off my PC the normal way as 'Comodo firewall is not responding'
I tried turning off the firewall manually before turning off my pc the next time and this worked ok.
Ever since then i've been unable to even open the firewall by clicking on either the main desktop icon or the one in my toolbar, which says its running.
Is it possible i've installed a rogue Comodo firewall?
If so can you recommend a better free firewall?
i'm still using Windows XP and firefox ,by the way
Thanks

If you downloaded it through the Comodo website it's unlikely to be a "rogue" version.
I used to be a Comodo user but generally found it to be a bit too sophisticated for the average user, so I sought something else.
I settled on "Outpost Free Firewall" http://free.agnitum.com/

I liked it so much that I upgraded to the commercial "Outpost Security Suite" combined Firewall/Antivirus.
It has never given me any problems, completely stable and is way better to manage and fathom than Comodo.
