I trying to transfer some file and programs from window xp home edition in my new window vista laptop. the laptop have window easy transfer, but my desktop no. I try using a USB cable but any of computer (desktop or laptop) recognize the cable. some one can help me telling me how to transfer that files and programs without me broken this computer. why I transfer that files and programs is because I not have the programs software to intaller direct to the new laptop. I try also do it by the network but the laptop asked me for a key that I have to find in my desktop and I don't know where to look. please someone can help me with this matter.

that you see I not very good with computer, so I hope the person that help me understand that.

Programs cannot be transferred from one computer to another. You need the original installation disks.
