Unknown Virus Sent Through Email

A friend sent me an email through her ipod touch and as soon as I opened it multiple hotmail.com windows started opening up and my mouse changed styles. I'm pretty sure I picked some sort of virus and it must be severe because my virus protection isnt picking it up. Help on this would definately be appreciated.
