I downloaded a MP4 file and planned to convert to a MP3 file - Unable to convert and when I tried to delete the file I got a message indicating the file was open in another program or being used by someone else. No other users and no other programs open. Also got an Error 8971 message and when I shut down my computer got a message regarding exploere.exe issue.

How do I correct this?

Thanks!

Hi John

I downloaded a MP4 file and planned to convert to a MP3 file

Why did you try to convert the file ? You would have been better downloading a codec and played the mp4 format.

Restart your computer and start tapping F8 as soon as the computer starts.
This should give a screen with boot options.
Choose safe mode. When started in safe mode delete the file then restart the computer and it should boot to normal windows.
Cheers

a easier method to remove the file is to use MoveOnBoot.

http://www.softpedia...oveOnBoot.shtml

or from the programmers website

http://www.gibinsoft.net/

go to the file utilities page and download from there. If you select ‘Custom’ during the installation, you can choose to install just MoveOnBoot without the other programs.

Its quite easy to use.

Yes, a window will popup where you find and highlight the file to remove. It's been a while since i have had to use it, but i think you need to choose to delete the file. There is a help file you can read to help you.
