Hi All,
I am just having to replace my memory and hard drive for my computer and I was just wondering what memory is the best performance for my computer, I only need just 1GB of ram. This is the link to my board http://www.gigabyte....spx?pid=2425#ov, I understand I need DDR 2 Dim, does it matter what PC number I get or are these just different speeds? For example would this be worth bidding on for an eBay listing for my memory?

http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item230bfab2d4

Any help would be really appreciated

Thanks

According to your mobo specs your memory has to be the following:

1. 2 DDR II DIMM memory slots (supports up to 2GB memory)
2. Supports 1.8V DDR II DIMM
3. Supports dual channel DDR II 533/400 DIMM

This means you have
  • 2 memory slots with a maximum amount of 1 gig in each slot for a total of 2 gigs
  • Supported voltage is 1.8v of DDR2 memory
  • Most important is the speed as you asked about. 533\400 which is pc4200

Now according to the ebay listed memory you linked to it is:

Memory speed [MHz]
800 MHz

Memory specification compliance
PC2-6400

Supply voltage
1.8 V

The only acceptable specs is the voltage. This memory most likely will not work and probably will cause your system to not boot at all.

By the minimum description given by the seller yes this would work.
Be aware of the posted return policy by the seller at the top of the page:

Returns:
No returns accepted

Also be aware of the following:

Used: An item that has been previously used. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended. This item may be a floor model or an item that has been returned to the seller after a period of use. See the seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections.

If the memory does not work you cannot return it.
