Hi ComputerNublet :D
This is the MB that is listed as being in your machine http://support.gatew...06254Rsp2.shtml you will notice that the maximum supported Ram is 4GB and not 8GB as listed in your OP, 4GB is adequate in normal circumstances and for gaming.
You have not listed your PSU details and these are important as any upgrades must have clean stable power to function correctly, also brands such as emachines/gateway etc are known for using low quality generic budget brand PSUs to keep costs down with earlier models having as little as 250W but more commonly 300W PSUs fitted.

If you have room in your system here is a GFX card I recommend http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814121394 there are better cards available out there but I kept your budget in mind.
Use the Crucial system scanner to get the Ram upgrade information you need http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/ no need to purchase from them just make a note of the recommendations and shop around for the best price.
To make sure your PSU can provide the power for any potential upgrades use a PSU calculator such as this http://www.corsair.c...er/default.aspx again no purchase is necessary.
