can anyone tell me what is the best download accelerator that works in firefox?

No download accelerator accelerates any downloads at all. At best they are incredibly anti-social because in a nutshell all they do is open multiple connections to the website and download chunks across each connection. They don't actually speed anything up, and at least one claims 400% speed increase which is impossible.

The only real benefit to a download manager is the ability to pause large downloads between internet sessions, but even this is becoming less of an issue as the download speeds go up.
