I have been having issues with scanning documents into Adobe for some time now and would like to know if anyone has any solutions.

I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 now, and have used 7.0 before with same issue. The computer is running on XP pro. The multifunction scanner is an HP L7590.

When trying to "create" a pdf file from the scanner in Acrobat, the system runs the HP Scanner utility and hangs up. After several minuets I get get a message saying that the scanner is being controled by another program and to save the work in that program and shut it down. I typically do not have any other programs running and only use Acrobat for scanning. So I don't know what the error means, or don't know what other program may have the scanner attached to it. The only way I have found to make this work is to completely shut down teh printer and my computer, reboot both of them and start Acrobat prior to loading any documents.

Is there a solution to this issue? It really stinks having to shut down and reboot for each scan.

Thanks for your help

Check HP website for newer driver & firmware update for the multifunction device.
