I have a Dell Inspiron 1100 that I got in 2003. The internet worked fine when I had dial-up and DSL but since I got roadrunner it does not connect to the internet. I do not have a wireless internet card but I've tried connecting the laptop directly to the modem but I keep getting the message 'Internet Explorer cannot display webpage'. I know the internet works because it works on other computers. I'm just not sure if there is a problem w/ my laptop or how I can figure it out. Someone told me it may be outdated but I cant see that being the problem. Any thoughts?

Check the Device Manager on the laptop (in Control Panel >> System) for any error symbols.
The driver for the "ethernet controller" may be either corrupted or missing.
You can download any drivers you need from the Dell website.
Go here & enter the "service tag" from the underside of your laptop: http://support.dell....s=19&l=en&s=dhs
