I just got my parts in today and I'm building for the first time. I installed my motherboard and moved on to the next step- installing the CPU. I opened the mechanism and removed the plastic piece, and when I try to close the mechanism with the CPU in place, it does not seem to want to close. I feel like I have to exert too much pressure on the pin to lock it in place. I don't want to break my board in half. I can't even close the pin half way- just a few degrees and it doesn't want to close any farther. I'm afraid to force it.

You may also want to install the CPU, CPU fan and Memory, BEFORE installing the motherboard into the case. Just FYI. It looks like an intel build so please verify that properly inserted the CPU

I just wasn't pressing down hard enough, that's all. I was afraid of breaking the board but it went in fine, thanks all
