Hi All

Have a computer running XP Home and getting several system errors. 57 and 51 have ! in front of them. Has several 57's logged in the same day. Tried running chkdsk /r. 57 error keeps coming back. Computer runs ok. Trying to figure out if the hard drive is starting to fail. Also have 7011 and 10010 with X in front of them. Computer is around 5-6 years old.

Thanks, Doug

Event ID 57?
Are you sure?

That message only applies to Windows Server. It shouldn't appear under XP.

The best thing to do is to find out what brand the hard drive is(Maxtor, Seagate, Western Digital etc) and go to the appropriate website for the diagnostic tool.

Thanks for the reply.

I will find out what HD is in it and run some test. Should have thought of that.

Thanks, Doug

Error 54 = The network is busy.
Error 57 = A network adapter hardware error occurred.

Hi Reddoug
Are you sure these are not just router or internet logon errors ? These 2 error messages relate to router/logon usually -
Do you use an ethernet connection or wireless connection - Infected routers are often to blame for some of these problems if thet are regular items -
You can reset your router if this seems to be the problem -

Thank You -

Hi

Do not have error 54. Computer hooks direct to Comcast modem. It is shut off when computer is turned off. Technet does not say anything about network error. Do not have any problems with connecting to the internet. This is my mothers computer and I will be going to look at it tomorrow.

Thanks, Doug
