A few days ago, i noticed that i could not use my DVD drive anymore. This only happens with DVDs, but with CD's it works perfectly. When i insert a DVD, the drive goes weirdo on me and does this...

Then, when i go into properties, this happens...

It might be your dvd laser that is damage or dirty, (to read dvd's it is not same laser as when reading cd's)

Try to clean it if you have not already done so.

Uninstall your dvd drive from Device Manager and reboot letting Windows reinstall it.

Try your dvd drive in another computer to see if you are able or not to read dvd's in it.

If you cannot read dvd's in another computer then your dvd laser is damage.

Usually you have to take the sides off and either unscrew or just slide the dvd out making sure you have unplug first the power and sata or ide connectors from your dvd drive.

Once it is out of your case plug it in another computer making sure to set the jumpers correctly (if an IDE cable) if sata no jumper.

once connected boot the computer and try to read a dvd, if it works then the problem is with settings or drivers on your computer if it does not then it is your dvd laser that is damage.

The RAW message is to tell you that the disc in your drive is empty and as not yet been written with any data so still RAW. It is like an unformated Hard Drive (fat, Fat32, NTFS) before being formated a hd is in the RAW format.
