A no name computer has stopped recognizing my two different flash drives,

the computer is running under XP and I did a repair procedure on it, the second R on the operating load CD.

It has an AK32 mobo, Phoenix Tech LTC 6:00PG bios, 512 installed memory [note, other memory sticks were tried that were known good with no results]

Any ideas?

Does the XP machine have SP3 installed?
There were some issues with usb ports which were addressed in SP2 & carried over to SP3.

If that's not relevant, you might want to replace them. USB flash drives (and camera memory cards) have a short life.
Those from "big name" manufacturers like Integral, Corsair & Kingston typically outlive the cheaper ones.

Hi Philipcorcoran

Yes SP3 is installed.

Also, the flash drive operates without a hitch on all other computers I have tried it on at the nearby library [about 20] so it is a computer problem and not a flash drive problem. The flash drive is a Centron Data Stick Pro 16 Gb.

Have you tried the flash drives in all of the USB ports?
Have you tried other USB components in the ports?
