I have a brand new HP desktop with Windows 7. When the computer goes to sleep, I can't wake it up by moving the mouse. I have to click on one of the mouse buttons to wake it up. My previous desktop had the same problem. I wonder if this is a virus that transferred across my internet connection. I had another problem which one of your people helped me with where most likely that virus crossed the internet from one PC to the other. (The topic titled "can't get rid of browser redirects, willing to wipe disk".) Also, I set the sleep mode for 3 minutes and it took 4 or 5 minutes to go to sleep. I just got off the phone with HP. We tried a hardware diagnostic, and unplugging all the cables including power, then holding down the power button to "get rid of static electricity". The guy said that the fact that it took so long to fall asleep, and the waking up problem, indicate that I probably have a virus. He's trying to sell me a Norton system. Right now, I have the Norton trial version.

OK, after I composed the above note, I discover that my PC will not go to sleep at all.
