I have a HP Pavillion Entertainment PC, dv 9500, s/n CNF 738134y. When I turned it off at night it was working fine. Next morning when I turned it on the screen flashed brightly then nothing , just a black screen. The light showing it has power is on, so the battery and the power cord works. But for some reason it won't turn on, I push the on button, black screen and no sound. It has Vista on it, I don't know if it has a fuse or what. Can anyone tell me what it might be and how to fix it?
Thank You;

Can you hook the laptop up to an external screen via the VGA port to see if you get a display.
When you power on inspect the screen closely to see if you can see any desktop icons in the background, shine a flashlight into the screen and do the same check, this is looking at the failed back light/inverter possibility, from what you have described the MBs integrated video chip may have died so hooking up to an external screen will check this, you may need to toggle between screens by using the Fn key and one of the F1 to F12 keys.
