I'm using a 1TB Western Digital external HDD
but for some strange reason I cant access it anymore ?
I'm using Win XP and the G drive HD icon isn't showing in "My Computer"

Iv'e tried renaming the drive in device manager etc
searched youtube and google for help but to no avail
getting all kinds of help pages but nothing which solves this particular problem

I can load it onto my laptop Windows 7 No problems (the disc is fine)
(tested with seatools)

this is a screenshot (I'm using the USB safe remove software)

In Disk Management I see that the partition on the external drive (G) is marked as "Active".
If used only for storage (ie no OS or boot files on it) that partition should not be Active.

Right-click that partition ribbon in the lower pane of Disk Management and choose "Mark partition as inactive".

You may have to log off/log on after doing that in order for the external drive to be shown in 'My Computer'.
