I didn't see it active. Can you post one more HijackThis log so I can have a look?

You could try the tool MicroSoft provides:
http://support.micro...om/?kbid=886590
but I have seen it fail too often to put my confidence in it.

Yeah, unfortunately it informed me that T.V. Media is not installed on my computer.

I've been reading other threads and I think I'm going to try running Silent Runners and CleanUp. I will post whatever logs I get from those along with a new Hijack This log file.

Thanks again.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed! :tazz:

BTW, is there anything else that can get rid of that TotalVelocity thing?

Also, while those other 2 files are gone from my C:\ drive, I see a mypcsearch.exe icon. Is this anything bad? Should I delete it?

Question 1:

Did you ever install WinMPG 5.5 from http://www.winmpg.com/
and are you still using it?

Question 2:

What happens if you delete the folder:
C:\Program Files\Tv Media

Remark.

If you are in doubt about files being malware or not:
http://virusscan.jotti.org/ (please do not abuse, these things cost money)

Mornin' Pieter

Yes, last summer (I beleive it was) I downloaded a trial of WinMPG 5.5 for a video file I was working on. But, i am no longer using it.

I deleted the C:\Program Files\Tv Media folder and sometime after that started getting notifications again from SpySubtract noting a Web Browser Configuration change and that software has attempted to change my internet browser configuration. Not sure if this is a result of deleting that folder or what.

I'm running the TDS scan again to see if anything reappeared. After I'll run the SpySubtract (the one that contains CWShredder) to see if that picks anything up. Previous scans are clean except for an internet cache cookie from go.com. I didn't think much of this, but if that's all that's there is that what's attempting to make all these Browser configuration changes?

That's all for now...thanks again.

Could the warning have been triggered by the attempt to remove TvMedia ?

Most of these warnings are generic, that means they don't see the difference between good or bad, they just sound the alarm when something changes.

You can have HijackThis fix this one:
O21 - SSODL: WinMPG Video Convert 5.5 - {DD978772-B08B-4461-83FE-DACCA5F70524} - C:\PROGRA~1\WINMPG~1\winMPGQTr.dll (file missing)
since you are no longer using WinMPG

I know what you mean about generic warnings, but these are very specific. They list the sites that are trying to configure my browser. Some are pornographic, all of them remind me of the list that IE-SPYAD generates (which I have installed, by the way)

The TDS scan came up fine except for the one entry I bolded becuase I don't recognize it and it looks fishy to me:

Scan Control Dumped @ 08:33:11 13-06-05

I'll boot into safe mode, fix that entry you mentioned in HijackThis, then I'll post a fresh log.

The logs look good.

The file TDS found is in your Restore Points.

You can flush these now that you are clean.

To do so
- disable System Restore
- reboot
- re-enable System Restore

Why does it say that Explorer is a running process? I was in safe mode and it wasn't open. Is that normal?

Also, do you know anything about this go.com cookie which shows up even when the computer isnt connected to the modem?

Everytime I delete that go.com cookie (says its in my Internet Explorer cahe) it returns. I think that's what's causing theres URL Zone changes. I think this is strange because I've ran CleanUp! And followed the instructions regarding cookies on the page you gave me. The most resent notification informed me of the following URLs attempting to make Zone Changes: *.02pmnzy5eo29bfk4.com and *contextplus.com. While I've been typing this post I've gotten 6 different warnings for easily over 50 websites, one of them being coolwebsearch. I think we've gotten rid of everything else but this. What do you advise I do from here?
