Ewido can be installed together with McAfee.

It does find lots of Spyware and Trojans so it's certainly worth a try.

Let me know,

First off, when I'm seeing the files fly by me as they are cleaned in SpySubtract in my Windows Registry I see Kazaa and associated files such as Gator and Cydoor. I've never installed Kazaa. Is this just proof to the rumor that Dells come preinstalled with spyware...or is this something else to look into?

I'm still seeing that go.com cookie come up. It says it's located in Internet Explorer Cache\go.com. I thought that CleanUp would take care of this?

Is there anyway I could go in and manually delete it to prevent it from popping up? If so, could you tell me where to go?

Edit: I looked into my C:\ Documents and Settings\Molly\Cookies folder immediately after running CleanUp and I find 2 files: index.dat and molly@go[1].txt. The other users on this computer have nothing in their respective cookies folders following the running of CleanUp.

Can these be deleted?

Second Edit: I got an error saying Generic Host Process For Win32 Services encountered an error and had to close. Here are the details in case you need them:

sz App Name: svchost.exe
sz App Ver: 5.1.2600.218
sz Mod Name: ole32.dll
sz Mod Ver: 5.1.2600.2595
offset. 00002066

Sorry for the lengthy post :tazz:

index.dat can't be deleted. Well. Not permanently anyway, but you can try:
http://www.pctools.c...ivacy-guardian/

go.com is a site I have never heard of being accused of spying
Maybe it's a good idea to open molly@go[1].txt in notepad and see if you can find out which data are stored in it.

In the Control Panel click Administrative Tools, and click on "Event Viewer".

The Event Viewer utility will allow you to review your system and application log files. Double-click on any error/warning entries you find that might relate to the ole32 error and see if you can post that information here.

The Evaluation Version of Provacy Guard won't clean index.dat, but it did look like it got rid of that go thing (whatever it was) once and for all! Since I followed your steps in order, that molly@go[1].txt file was gone after I ran the program so I never go to see what was inside of it.

Here's the information regarding the ole32.dll error:
Date: 6/21/2005
Time: 9:15:12 PM
Type: Error
User: N?A
Computer: M
Source: Application Error
Category: (100)
EventID: 1004

Faulting application svchost.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module ole32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2595, fault address 0x000020bb.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft....link/events.asp.

There's also a lot of these errors:
VirusScan McShield service received an invalid filename from the NaiFiltr device driver.
Received name = \GLOBAL??\TFSWIFS
Process = tfswctrl.exe

HP distributes it's own software that people can use to burn CD's
Most people however switch to Nero or another commercial program later.

The file McAfee complains about belongs to the HP software.
If you don't use it we might as well get rid of it.

I'm not aware of ever using HP burning software. I use Sonic burning software.

I do, however, have an HP All-In-One PSC. It's been known to give me an error message when I'm shutting down. I just uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and the error message no longer comes up.

Can we check to see if that file that was causing the McAfee problem is still there?

Yeah sure.

Allthough I wouldn't risk running into other errors by removing it.
If everything else is honkeydory now, why mess with it?

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = :0

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [!1_ProcessGuard_Startup] "C:\Program Files\ProcessGuard\procguard.exe" -minimize <= leftover, or did you re-install it?

Rest looks good to me. :tazz:

Quick question, I've adjusted my security settings, but McAfee needs some form of Active X enabled to run properly apparently. Can you tell me what to check where in the Active X settings of the security tab of Internet Options so I'm still secure, but can check for viruses? (It doesn't work after prompting)
