Let me preface by saying I'm ignorant of hardware in every sense.

Running Vista. I am attempting to upgrade my power supply (from 250wt to 600wt) cooling fan, add 2 gigs or ram and replace my integrated Intel GMA 950 with a Radeon HD5570. Everything works great except the new graphics card.

I simply plugged the new 5570 into my lone PCI slot and the computer won't boot up. I get power to the PC but it doesn't make any the normal noses (extremely quiet except for fan) and shuts down automatically in 2 minutes or so.

I then switched my graphics settings in BIOS from internal to PCI. I went into Device Manager and couldn't find my integrated Intel GMA 950 but saw a Intel 82945G Express Chipset Family under "Display Adapters"

I disabled it in Device Manager and shut down, popped in the 5570, plugged in my monitor to the cards VGA and tried again.

Same result.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

-Adam

Did you install the drivers for the new card?

Does not appear to be an Issue with the PCI-e slot but rather the BIOS.

If your computer is an HP, go to there site and see if there is an update for your motherboard BIOS..
