toshiba external hdd won't be recognised ny computer

i bought a toshiba stor.e alu 3.5" 1.5tb 2 months ago, it was working perfectly until two days ago when i connected it, it showed an error message "USB won't be recognised, device has malfunctioned", i tried rebooting my pc but no luck, i even unistalled all my usb drivers and reinstalled them but no luck. i am freaking out because nearly all my school work is on there. how do i fix this?

yes i have tried that but i still get the same error.

Remove the drive from the enclosure and either connect it directly in a desktop computer or via a USB adapter. If it works okay now, you know the problem is with the enclosure, not the hard drive.
