My son has a HP Pavilion DV2000. The screen is almost completely dim unless you shine a flashlight on the screen to barely see the desktop. Is this an easy, inexpensive fix or should we scrap it and get a new one. Thanks!

. Most likely it is the inverter, or backlight or both. Parts will be $50 to $150, plus 1 to 2 hours labor. If the notebook does not need to be mobile, you should be able to attach an external monitor and use that way.
