Hello all,
I'm sorry to post a recurring issue but I've trawled forums and Microsoft discussion boards, tried and applied a few fixes. I'm no closer to resolution. I have to put my hands up and say I don't know what I'm doing please help, I really need a step by step guide out of this. A bit of background. I'm using a Samsung N140 Netbook with the above specs. XP home was pre-installed and I don't have a reinstall disk ( or external drive to connect to install it ) I am basically trying to avoid a rebuild. I am using an administrator account but not the main admin account under safe mode.

So here's the error ;

''Please change your Internet Explorer security settings
To save changes to your settings for this website, you need to enable userdata persistence for Internet Explorer. Complete the steps below, and then click Change settings to the left and try saving your changes again.
In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
Click the Security tab, click the Internet security zone icon, and then click Custom Level.
In the Settings dialog box, scroll to the Miscellaneous section.
Under Userdata persistence , select Enable.
Click OK and when the security warning dialog box appears, click Yes.

Read more about steps you can take to resolve this problem (error number 0x800A0046) yourself. ''

_____________________________________________

1. I have followed these steps, Userdata persistence is already enabled.
2. When I try to restart the update service under services.msc I get this error ;

''Unable to open service Automatic Updates for reading on local Computer ,

Error 5: Access is denied.''

Please help!
