I did my first linux install today (ubuntu 10.10 unity) and whenever I hover over the icons on the side panel the screen refreshes.

I am fully updated.

The computer is an old VAIO PCG-V505DX with 1.4GHz Intel Pentium M; 512MB DDR SDRAM 266MHz; Intel 82852/82855 Graphics Controller-0 (up to 64MB shared); Toshiba MK6021GAS 60GB 4,200rpm.

Everything else is running fine except for the side panel.

Any fixes?
