I've had my laptop running through a VGA cable to my 23" 1080P monitor for quite some time now, extending the display to have essentially an extra long desktop, as I'm sure you've already figured out. Recently, I had to move the VGA cable to the living room, and switch to HDMI in here for various reasons.
As soon as I hooked up the HDMI cable and extended the desktops again I noticed that the display of my larger monitor was stretching off screen. I messed with the resolution settings and adjusted things just to make sure it was all set correctly, but I'm still unable to make it fit properly. In fact, everything about using this HDMI cable seems to be lower quality than the simple VGA cable I was using before. Is this a common problem? Is there some way to fix this so that I can continue using the HDMI cable, but with greater efficiency?
