Unable to search web

Help, I can access the web via specific web addreesses, but when I use a search engine, any search engine, for a general search I get the cannot display website message. I can connect using links or favorites. Please help!

What internet browser are you using (Inernet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc.), and do you happen to know what version (Internet Explorer 8, etc)?
