I was given a Printer/Scanner all in one model number c4280 , Do i need a CD to install it or just hook it up & go ?

Welcome to Geeks2Go!

All-in-one printer/scanner devices are not "plug and play", they need device drivers supplied by the manufacturer.

You need either the CD supplied with it when it was new, or you can download the driver software from the manufacturer's website.

Go to the HP drivers page for the C4280, select the appropriate version of Windows, then click the blue "Next" button:
