This empnads.com url pops up about about every 2 minutes whether or not I am connected to cable.(If not connected displays “this page cannot be displayed” otherwise connected all sorts of ads pop through even w/ google pop-up blocker. I deleted lots of things on Adaware and Spybot. On spybot “Elitum.EliteBar: Settings (Registry key, nothing done)

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-2100132109-3511848209-3393668055-1006\Software\LQ” indicates it is deleted but when I run it again spybot finds it again and again.I I have run new Adaware Lavasoft, Norton antivirus, trend micro housecall and still have popups even when I disconnect from the internet (page cannot be found). Also ran CCleaner. Unable to download updates from Ewido. Hijack log below. Also trend micro finds Troj Repeatedly even after I use the program to delte. Trevuren, Thank you for your reply. I have rerun the HJT as you requested. Will also note that last night ran Ewido and saved those logs if you need them. Also ran Housecalls again and now it does not find the Troj_startpag.qy that it found before. Pop ups continue unabated. Thank you for your help.

By the way I have tried to change"My controls" to immediate email notification but I Haven't figured out how to save this and it reverts to unsubscribe. I am sure this is an easy fix-sorry I can't figure it out.

2. Place a check mark beside "Enable Email Notification by default.

3. Chose Default type= Immediate email Notification.

4. Click on "Amend my email settings"

Now let's do some work on your log:

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

Now with all the items selected, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window and Reboot Your System in Safe Mode

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.


Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and DELETE them (if they are present):

FILES

C:\WINDOWS\System32\n20050308.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\system32\MDR2C.DLL

FOLDERS (with all their content)

c:\Program Files\tvs

Exit Explorer, and REBOOT BACK INTO NORMAL MODE

Finally, RUN Hijackthis again and produce a new HJT log. Post it in the forum so we can check how everytjhing looks now.

1. * Download a free copy of Registrar Lite from HERE and install the program.

* Open Registrar Lite and copy and paste the following text into the Address Bar:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects

* Click on the green GO button to the right of the Bar.

* Scroll down the list of available CLSIDs in the right hand pane until you find the ones you are looking for. Left click on one to highlight it

* From the top toolbar, choose Security Tab<<Edit<<Permission<<highlight Administrator and click on the ADVANCED button.

* Make sure there is a check mark placed next to :"Inherit from parent the permission entries that apply to the child objects...." Click OK.

* Now click on the RED X on the taskbar to Delete the key.

* Repeat the sme procedure with other CLSDs.

* Exit the program

2. REBOOT your system

3. Finally, run HijackThis, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

Able to delet 2 of three using this Registrar lite. Unable to delete {5DC41317-7E5D-F953-732C-8F5EDCE6A821} regardless of rebooting and multiple tries at deleting from HJT or Registrar Lite. Thought I would ask for another suggestion before sending another HJT log. Thanks

If yes, please identify the file (Full Path) when you submit HJT log next

There is a file icon (red) associated if that is what you mean but I am unable to identify a full path. Attached is new log. Things are running better but still with unrequested IE windows.. (What is the correct name for these? They aren't really pop-ups-- browser redirects?)

I am going to try something to fix the 020 which may help with the 02

You have the latest version of VX2. Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!
