A few days ago I was having problems with the "MS Removal Tool." I followed various instructions to try to remove it, and nothing that I ran (like Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware) picked anything up. But then it seemed to be gone, and my hope was that it really was...

Tonight I found the phony "Windows Restore" program running against a black desktop.

I tried rebooting in safe mode with networking, but had nothing but IE on my desktop. I looked under programs and found nothing listed except the bogus "Windows Restore." I then tried to redownload and/or run Malwarebyte's program, but was unable to do so.

I then shut down the computer and am writing you on a different computer. I am wondering if these two problems are related.

I was running Malwarebyte's program regularly, run Symantec/Norton and thought I was using good computer "hygiene." Apparently not.

I am looking forward to receiving help with this.

thanks in advance!
