nv4_mini.sys is part of your video card driver.

Try if this will work.

Reboot your computer then press continuously press F8 to bring up the boot menu.

Select Enable VGA mode (or along that wordings) then press enter. See if it pushes through.

[LIST=1]
[*] Restart your computer
[*] Before Windows loads, you will be prompted to choose which Operating System to start
[*] Use the up and down arrow key to select Microsoft Windows Recovery Console
[*] You must enter which Windows installation to log onto. Type 1 and press enter.
[*] At the C:\Windows prompt, type the following bolded text, and press Enter:

Listsvc

Press Enter.

This will list each and every service and driver that can be disabled from here. We then locate the filename in question in the list to verify it can be disabled.

For example, the BSOD is caused by nv4_mini.sys file. Then, under the list of services, we would attempt to locate NV.

Second Step

At the C:\Windows prompt, type:

Disable nv

Press Enter.

If you receive no errors, it worked. If you do receive an error, check your spelling, and verify the service/driver was listed under listsvc. We then type 'Exit' to reboot.

Attempt to boot your OS again.

It doesnt seem to be. It is on 34 minutes. Let me watch it a minute and see. The recommended program for that rundll32 is Internet Explorer by the way. If I remember right isn't a rundll32 a program no longer recognized by windows?

OK it is still on 34 minutes, so it is waiting for a response on that window

Now another window wants me to pick the program for regsvr32.exe. Hit cancel again?

Yup. Basically it seems that your windows is really ailing (some hardware problems in addition prolly). :) I would love you to have your desktop back so you could start backing things up.

Skip the repair-install and do this.

On the clean computer.

  • Download the attached Scan.txt and save it to your USB stick.
  • Download OTLPENet.exe to your desktop
  • Ensure that you have a blank CD in the drive
  • Double click OTLPENet.exe and this will then open imgburn to burn the file to CD

On the infected computer.

  • Reboot your system using the boot CD you just created.
Note : If you do not know how to set your computer to boot from CD follow the steps here
  • As the CD needs to detect your hardware and load the operating system, I would recommend a nice cup of tea whilst it loads :)
  • Your system should now display a Reatogo desktop.
Note : as you are running from CD it is not exactly speedy
  • You can backup any files that you wish from this OS

Tell me when you're done backing up all of your files, then we'll go from there.

It finished the repair, rebooted and is now on the windows please wait screen. Seems to be hanging there. If it is stuck there, i will make that boot cd and back up what i can. Not sure if it will recognize my external drive I want to back my files to. But I will cross that bridge when it comes. Thank you so much, you are my new hero :) I will post back here when done. If I can't do any of the above, I will post sooner lol
